What collectors actually pay.

Three prices for the same watch or car: what the boutique charges, what dealers ask online, and what someone actually paid at auction. The gap tells you if it’s a good deal.

  • Boutique list or launch price
  • Online dealer asking price
  • Auction a real, completed sale

Auction beats asking

An asking price is what a dealer hopes to get. An auction result is what someone paid. Where no public sale exists in the last 24 months, we say so.

Fees, stated

Bring a Trailer and Collecting Cars figures are winning bids before fee unless marked incl. fee. Phillips, Christie’s, Bonhams, Antiquorum, Heritage, Monaco Legend, Lempertz and Iconic figures include buyer’s premium; Gardiner Houlgate figures are hammer prices before premium. Auction sales are shown in the currency they sold in, never converted; when a market had no sale of its own in the last 24 months, its card shows the nearest relevant sale and no gap is computed.
